Charles, Prince of Wales (Charles Philip Arthur George; born 14 November 1948) is the heir apparent to the British throne as the eldest son of Elizabeth II. He has been Duke of Cornwall and Duke of Rothesay since 1952, and he is the oldest and longest-serving heir apparent in British history.
He is also the longest-serving Prince of Wales, having held that title since 1958. Charles was born at Buckingham Palace as the first grandchild of King George VI and Queen Elizabeth. He was educated at Cheam and Gordonstoun schools, which his father, Prince Philip, Duke of Edinburgh, had attended as a child. Charles also spent a year at the Timbertop campus of Geelong Grammar School in Victoria, Australia.
The alleged 'real reason' Meghan Markle ‘turned down’ an invitation to King Charles' Coronation has been revealed. A spokesperson for the Sussexes confirmed at the time that the couple had received official correspondence from the palace, indicating that they had been invited to attend.
However, while Prince Harry did travel from their home in California to make the occasion, Meghan Markle skipped the Coronation altogether. The Mirror reports the real reason Meghan may not have attended is because she was 'unimpressed' by the King's response to claims made in her Oprah Winfrey interview.
In 2021, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex sat down for a bombshell tell-all interview with the US talk show host where they made allegations relating to race about the family.
Meghan alleged there had been ‘conversations’ and ‘concerns’ about what colour the Sussexes' baby would be. It later emerged that Meghan and Charles, who was the Prince of Wales at the time, exchanged letters about the incident.
