Rachel Stevens admits she was in 'turmoil' over marriage split after falling for Dancing On Ice partner
ok.co.ukRachel Stevens has opened up about her emotional journey through divorce, revealing that she was determined to teach her daughters "how to be happy" despite the turmoil.
The S Club 7 star parted ways with Alex Bourne, her husband of over a decade, in 2022, following a spark with her Dancing on Ice partner Brendyn Hatfield.The 46-year-old said throughout the process she tried to prioritise her daughters Amelie and Minnie, confessing: "There were a lot of fears and lots of questioning... 'Am I doing the right thing? ' I was in turmoil." Emphasising the importance of happiness and communication in a family, Rachel added: "The main thing was the children.
It was a really hard time but I'm not someone who believes in staying in a relationship for the children." Rachel revealed that she believes as a parents it's up to her to "show" children how to regulate emotions and how to communicate.
She said while it's not easy to navigate, it's important to teach her children that there's more to life than "just getting married and having kids." Rachel reflects on breaking societal norms, stating: "We've grown up thinking we have to conform and it isn't like that.
