Steven J. Horowitz Senior Music Writer In partnership with his Rocket Foundation, Quavo has announced the “Spark Grants” program, intended to support organizations working to minimize community violence in his native Atlanta and beyond.
The rapper, who laid the bricks for his career as one-third of Migos, founded the Rocket Foundation in 2022 to honor his group member and nephew Takeoff who was shot and killed in 2022.
The organization sought to end gun violence in America in the fallout from Takeoff’s death, and started its work in Atlanta as a jumping-off point to further gun control in the country at large.
The “Sparks Grants” will award $10,000 to 10 Atlanta-focused organizations to assist communities and promote the foundation’s message, totaling $100,000 in grants.
