Probe into fire attack on ex-Old Firm star Kenny Miller closes with no arrests

A probe into an arson attack on ex-Rangers and Celtic star Kenny Miller has been closed by police - with no arrests. A firebug tried to torch the former Scotland captain's top-of-the-range SUV in a late-night attack.

They doused the £70,000 Audi Q7 with an accelerant in a bid to set the vehicle alight but it's understood they were disturbed before starting the blaze.Sources said the suspects poured a flammable liquid over the windscreen of the vehicle, leaving it damaged.Officers from Police Scotland were called to attend after the Falkirk FC Assistant boss was targeted just after midnight on Saturday, January 8 this year.

They began investigating the terrifying incident, which took place outside a family member's flat in Hamilton, Lanarkshire.Edinburgh-born Miller, 42, and his wife Laura, 33, were temporarily staying with his mother-in-law Elizabeth O’Donnell when the drama unfolded.

The attack took place within days of Laura giving birth to a baby girl - the couple’s third child - and just weeks after they started their own media firm.In November they launched K&L Media Ltd, thought to be set up to channel Miller’s income from TV and radio, and both are listed as directors of the company.The force has now revealed that the investigation into the attack has concluded - after detectives hit a brick wall.But officers insist the probe will be reopened should any new information on the incident come to light.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Officers have carried out extensive enquiries into a report of an attempt to set a vehicle alight in Hamilton, which took place in the early hours of Saturday, 8 January, 2022."Enquiries have concluded at this time, however any new information will be investigated."The attempted
