Scots are expected to be battered by snowfall later this week - with some areas seeing as much as a foot of wintry showers.

An area of low pressure is expected to travel into Scotland from tomorrow, which will bring rain, snow and potentially gale force winds for many of us.

The BBC reports that up to a foot (12 inches) of snow could land in parts of the Grampians and Highlands between Tuesday and Thursday.

Temperatures are also expected to struggle in single figures across the north of Scotland during the spell and could even dip below freezing.A Met Office weather warning for snow has been issued for northern Scotland from 4am on Tuesday until 11am on Wednesday.
