Premiership champions Rangers have made a pre-match statement that their rivalry with Celtic remains the Old Firm. It comes just days after they pulled out of the Sydney Super Cup with a sticking point being how the marquee match-up was branded Down Under.
The traditional title for Scottish football's showpiece match has been a bone of contention with the side in Glasgow's east end opting for the 'Glasgow derby' post-2012.But Rangers made their feelings clear with electronic advertising boards filling Ibrox before Sunday's big clash that read 'This is the Old Firm'.Record Sport revealed on Friday that the Ibrox side now face a potential £5m bill after their decision to cut ties with the friendly tournament that would see them face their great rivals in Australia.
Rangers have continued to use the term Old Firm but Celtic have referred to matches with their biggest foes as the Glasgow Derby on official platforms in recent years.
And the pre-match Ibrox verdict certainly isn't lost on those who have strong opinions on how the rivalry is branded in Scotland and beyond.
