Prince William represents King at Sovereign's Parade after revealing 'doctor's orders'
dailyrecord.co.ukPrince William raised eyebrows by keeping his much-talked-about beard as he donned his military attire to stand in for King Charles at a major military event today.His visit was to RAF Cranwell in Lincolnshire, representing his father at the Sovereign's Parade.
Memories would have stirred for William and his wife Kate Middleton since it was here that the prince previously received his pilot wings in 2008, observed by his then-girlfriend.William was in solitude for today's duties as he oversaw the salute, scrutinised the front rank, and extended congratulations to the graduates at the base.
His RAF uniform was complemented by the continued presence of his beard, which appears to be transitioning from an experimental look earlier this year to a regular feature, the Mirror reports.The Prince of Wales also took the opportunity to address the graduating body and expressed his pride in representing the King: "It is my great honour to be with you today, representing my father, His Majesty The King, to mark this significant milestone in your lives and careers." A nod to the support systems of the graduates, he added: "I am delighted to see so many family and friends here I know their love and support will have been instrumental in getting you to this point. "Whilst I didn't graduate on this exact Parade Ground, I did graduate from flying training here so I know something about the celebrations that will come later, so I promise, I'll only take a few minutes of your time!"I do want to take this moment though, to highlight not only the importance of your achievements to date but also that of the roles you will play in supporting the futures of your countries' Air Forces.
