Beth Gibbons of Portishead has unveiled a new solo single, ‘Reaching Out’ – listen to the rhythm-driven track below.Last night (April 10), Gibbons shared the new track, taken off her upcoming solo album ‘Lives Outgrown’. ‘Reaching Out’ marks the second track to be shared from the new album, due for release on May 17 via Domino Record Co. – pre-save and pre-order your copy here.On ‘Reaching Out’, Gibbons on heavy, pulsating percussion and blaring brass instruments, as she croons: “You said you will, you said you won’t / You can’t tell if you don’t / You stand alone on your own / Reaching out / Holding On“.‘Reaching Out’ is accompanied by two variations of a music video, created with the visual artist Weirdcore.

The standard version of the video can be seen below, while an interactive version of the same visualiser can be seen here.First announced in February, ‘Lives Outgrown’ will mark her first solo album to be shared from the iconic trip-hop frontwoman, and is set to contain 10 new tracks recorded over a period of 10 years.Containing songs written across the past decade, the LP is produced by James Ford (Arctic Monkeys, Depeche Mode, The Last Dinner Party) & Beth Gibbons.

Additional production comes from Lee Harris (Talk Talk).‘Reaching Out’ is the second single to be released from ‘Lives Outgrown’, following ‘Floating On A Moment’, which accompanied the album’s reveal earlier this year.In February, Beth Gibbons also shared details of an upcoming tour of the UK and Europe.

Set to kick off later this year, the live shows will commence on May 27 with a slot in Paris and see the singer make stops in cities including Barcelona, Lyon, Berlin, Brussels and more.
