A popular family attraction is making a return to Blackpool after a three year break. Claremont Gala was last held in 2019 before being suspended due to the Covid pandemic.

But the event, including a procession, crowning of the gala queen and children’s rides are all back this Saturday (July 22).

The procession will begin around 11am with a street parade from St Paul’s Worship centre on Egerton Road to Claremont Park, led by the town crier and the gala queen and her entourage – all pupils from Claremont Primary School.

Blackpool Mayor Coun Gillian Campbell will officially open the gala and crown the gala king and queen at 12 noon. Louise Chennells, Claremont community and centre co-ordinator, said: “Claremont Gala had been running successfully for many years, but sadly like many other community events it had been postponed due to the global pandemic.
