Police raid suspected 'chop shop' as three people arrested

Three men were arrested after police carried out a major raid at a suspected 'chop shop' in Manchester. The men aged 27, 32 and 49 were arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods following the warrant on Friday morning (October 18).

Officers recovered suspected stolen vehicle parts from the garage on Bromley Street in Manchester. Specialist vehicle examination teams from GMP joined neighbourhood officers for the raid, with initial searches uncovering items that are suspected of being stolen, with further analysis of recovered items to take place in due course. Chop shops are places that illegally disassemble and ‘chop-up’ vehicles for parts, later selling them for profit. The vehicles may have previously been stolen from their rightful owners.

Inspector Dan Pickavance, from GMP’s Manchester neighbourhood team, said: “Stealing someone’s hard-earned property and selling it on is vile; quite simply profiting off someone’s misery.
