Police extend stop and search powers in Bury after another knife incident in Whitefield

Stop and search powers in Bury have been extended to eight Metrolink stations after a spate of violent knife crime in the borough since Monday.

They wil stay in place until tomorrow afternoon. Three victims were taken to hospital with stab wounds following an incident on Monday afternoon, off Murray Road, near Bury Market.

Last night a knifeman tried to wound a person in Whitefield. Yesterday a fourth suspect was arrested in connection with the triple stabbing.

A 17-year-old boy was arrested on suspicion of violent disorder and has since been bailed. The arrest was in relation to a stabbing that took place at around 12.15pm, which left three males with injuries that were not life-threatening.
