Plans for a massive 35-bedroom shared house at a former glass showroom have been thrown out after dozens of neighbours objected.

Plans published last month revealed the intention to convert the former Finefit premises on Church Street West, Radcliffe, into a huge house of multiple occupation, (HMO), with double occupancy meaning it could house up to 70 people.

The 516 square foot building is 50 metres from Radcliffe’s Metrolink stop and close to the town centre. Bury council published 56 letters of objection to the plans, with many saying the proposals were out of keeping with the area.

One objector, said: “A HMO for potentially 70 people is too big for this area. It will be a pressure on the local area, services and infrastructure, there’s not enough spaces for parking. “There are too many HMOs, we need family homes.” Join the Manchester Politics WhatsApp group here Another opponent of the plans, said: "The town is becoming a dumping ground for Manchester and Salford overspill and is destroying the character of the town. "Parking on Church Street West is already a problem, buses have difficulty getting past and two way traffic in parts is nearly impossible. "The health centre car park is nearly always full and unavailable for those needing to use it.
