Outlander prequel Blood of My Blood to begin filming in historic locations in Glasgow

The highly-anticipated prequel of Outlander is due to begin filming in Glasgow in January.Since its release in 2014, Outlander has won the hearts of millions across the world, with the second half of the penultimate season airing next year.Throughout its seven adored seasons, the time-travelling drama has staked its claim as one of the best historical shows, pulling in a loyal fanbase for almost 10 years.Sadly for fans, all things must come to an end, with it being announced that the upcoming eighth season will be its last.Now, with the announcement of the final season, filming is set to begin in Glasgow's west end on January 7 for the hugely anticipated prequel.Filming is set to run until January 27.

Officially greenlit by Starz in January 2023, Blood Of My Blood will be a prequel series about the forbidden love story of Jamie's parents Brian Fraser and Ellen MacKenzie.

Outlander author Diana Gabaldon, who is a consulting producer, will explore Jamie's origins through his parents' perspectives.Glasgow University was used as a filming location for the show, with streets in the West of the city doubling as Boston in the 1960s.Doune, Blackness and Craigmillar castles are among the other Scottish locations in earlier series.According to Glasgow City Council a number of vehicle access restrictions will be put in place on roads with terraced houses such as Woodlands Terrace and Park Circus.
