There are long delays on the M6 tonight after a lorry carrying a spillage of OFFAL. The animal entrails spilled from a truck on the northbound stretch of the motorway between junctions 20 for Lymm and 21 for Warrington, earlier this evening.
Traffic was initially held whilst traffic officers dealt with the rush-hour incident. Three of the carriageway's four lanes eventually re-opened.
However, one remained closed with matrix signs close to the scene, near Thelwall Viaduct, warning of 'debris in the road.' It led to more than 13 miles of congestion and delays of more than an hour and a half for frustrated motorists In an update issued on social media at around 7pm, National Highways said: "All lanes are now open.
The earlier offal spill has been cleared. Delays of 45 minutes above normal journey times remain, 7 miles of congestion on the approach." 'Thank you for your patience" they added.
