New travel rules coming into force in 2023 - from passport fees to EU visas

UK tourists are at risk of ruining their future holidays if they are not up to date on new travel rules.Since Brexit, a number of changes have come into force in the new year for British holidaymakers.

Most notably, anyone visiting an EU country will have to apply for a certain visa to enter.Other rules coming into force in 2023 that all travellers should know about include a changing currency for the popular destination Croatia and new tourist taxes.Here is what you need to know before you jet off this summer.Fees for passport applications are to rise from next month, meaning anyone who is due to renew theirs should do so before February 2.The fee change applies for both children and adult passports.

Fees for applications made within the UK will jump from £75.50 to £82.50 for adults and £49 to £53.50 for children.Passports applied for by post will increase from £85 to £93 for adults and £58.50 to £64 for children.British tourists will have to apply for a visa waiver to enter the EU for holidays that last under 90 days.From November 2023, holidaymakers will need to apply online and pay a £7 fee and trips that will last longer than six weeks will require separate visas.The ETIAS visa system has been brought in to strengthen EU border security.

While the site is yet to go live, the system will operate digitally and it is reported that the majority of applications will be processed on the same day.Once approved, a traveller's ETIAs will last for three years or until their passport expires.Croatia has joined the Schengen Zone meaning their current currency known as Kuna is to be scrapped and replaced with the Euro.The country has been a member of the EU since 2003, but has become the 27th country to join the zone with no
