New musical of movie A Knight's Tale to get world premiere in Manchester

Hit comedy movie A Knight's Tale is being turned into a musical for the first time. The show will get its world premiere run in Manchester at the historic Opera House.

A Knight's Tale the Musical will premiere from April 11 and play a month-long run of shows. Tickets will go on sale for the premiere run on Thursday August 1.

Producers of the show says we can expect "a truly rockin’ soundtrack, packed with chart-topping hits". The show will follow the medieval adventures of Will Thatcher and his band of merry misfits for a "Knight like no other". READ MORE: Manchester's award-winning park with brilliant play area for kids The musical will be based on the hit film written and directed by Brian Helgeland which starred the late, great actor Heath Ledger as Will and Paul Bettany as the poet Geoffrey Chaucer.

It is being adapted for the stage by Irish comedy writer and actor Brona C Titley, directed by the award-winning Rachel Kavanaugh and choreographed by Olivier Award-winning Matt Cole.
