A new mountain bike trail network and skills area is being proposed for Balloch Park. The project, a partnership between West Dunbartonshire Council and West Dunbartonshire Leisure, would see a purpose built facility created in a designated section in the north of the park to support and encourage the development of cycling skills.

Linking trails of different levels would also be created. The project is currently out for consultation with residents being encouraged to give their feedback on plans.Councillor David McBride, convener of infrastructure, regeneration and economic development, and chair of West Dunbartonshire Leisure Trust, said: “The proposals for a free to use and accessible mountain biking facility within Balloch Park are very promising and exciting.“If the project goes ahead as planned, I’m sure this will deliver benefits to many different residents for many years to come.“I would encourage all residents to look at the detailed plan on the consultation website and share your views.”Councillor Lawrence O’Neill, vice convener, added: “Residents feedback is vital to ensure the community’s views are reflected in any proposal, so please make sure you look at the plan and give your opinion on what is suggested for the area.”The consultation is open now and will run until November 18.A drop in consultation event is also being held on October 26 between 3pm and 7.30pm at Lomond Parish Church in Balloch, with detailed information on proposed plans.
