Neighbour calls for demolition of 'dangerous' fire-ravaged care home claiming cries for help went unanswered

A fuming local resident is calling for the demolition of the fire-ravaged Acorn Park Care Home claiming repeated calls to authorities over vandalism at the "dangerous" site went unanswered.The man, who did not wish to be named, told Lanarkshire Live his family was also suffering heartbreaking repercussions as a result of last week's devastating fire at the derelict site.He initially feared he wouldn't be able bring his wife, who has terminal lung cancer, home from a hospice to spend her final days with him due to the smoke damage to their home and cars.

But, thankfully, she has been given the go ahead to go home tomorrow.Acorn Park was targeted by firebugs shortly after 5am on March 19 gutting the dilapidated building on Glen Road and causing fire damage to nearby homes and vehicles.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.
