Mum hits out at 'lazy policing' over check on her daughter who took her own life

The mother of a mum-of-three who took her own life hit out over 'lazy policing' after an inquest into her daughter's death was told officers had attempted to conduct a welfare check on her, but left after they were unsuccessful.

Rhiana Jones' family said they believe two police officers who were called to her home didn't do enough to try to find her. But a coroner said after hearing evidence that he couldn't say 'any act or omission on the part of police contributed to Ms Jones' death'.

The 27-year-old died in her own home on Sunday, August 6, 2023. The inquest heard two police officers attended Ms Jones' home after they received a report from a third party she was 'feared to be suicidal'.
