Motherwell social care worker sanctioned for consuming alcohol while on shift

A social care worker from Motherwell has been sanctioned after consuming alcohol while on shift. Henry Doyle was given a warning which will stay on his Scottish Social Services Council registration for the next 12 months following an investigation from the SSSC.The council decided there was evidence that while Doyle was employed as a Personal Assistant with Enable Scotland (Leading the Way) and during the course of that employment, on March 17 last year, he consumed alcohol whilst on shift supporting AA, a person who uses services.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

The report states: “Social service workers have a responsibility to meet the relevant standards of practice and work in a safe and effective way. “You have consumed alcohol whilst on shift supporting an individual on more than one occasion.“Whilst there was no harm caused, you placed that individual at risk of harm.“You have breached the trust placed in you by that individual and your employer.“There is a need in your case, although the risk of repetition appears to sit towards the lower end of the scale, to impose a warning on your registration to reaffirm the clear
