Motherwell kid Lennon Miller hopes his career takes off this season

Motherwell hit-kid Lennon Miller hopes to use this season to launch his career and see where it can take him, after bagging two goals already.The 16-year-old midfielder impressed during his side’s 3-0 Viaplay Cup group stages win over East Fife, netting the opener and having several chances to stretch that lead.Conor Wilkinson got his first goal for the club and Callum Slattery bagged a second of the season in the win, which puts the Steelmen through to the last 16 as one of the seeded clubs.Miller has two goals in the competition so far, and became Motherwell’s youngest-ever goalscorer with their first of the season in a 2-0 win at Elgin City.But the Wishaw lad says he’s taking things at his own pace.He said: “I felt ready last season but didn’t quite get my opportunity, and I’ve put in the hard work in pre-season, so hopefully I get my chance this season.“Motherwell has been a bit of a launchpad for several players in recent years, and that’s why I stayed.“I want to play, develop me, and then hopefully see what happens in the future.“It’s nice to score, but the main thing for this pre-season was to play more minutes, luckily the manager and Stevie Frail have been brilliant with me, and helped me through that.“Playing football is something I’ve always wanted to do since I was young – I’ve always had a ball at my feet.”Miller’s development has been aided with the acquisition of fellow midfielder Davor Zdravkovski, who is almost a ‘mentor’ for the teenager, but he also has help in former Aberdeen and Scotland striker dad Lee.Lennon said: “It’s nice to have somebody [Davor] who can play with you and he’s got loads of experience and has helped me through the sessions that we’ve done.“Dad is also a massive help, on and off
