Meghan Markle has reportedly been in touch with Kate Middleton, but it's been more "formal rather than sisterly" than "formal rather than sisterly", amid the recent scandal.

Kate has been away from the public eye since Christmas due to her recovery from abdominal surgery. It comes after it was revealed that hospital bosses are investigating claims that Kate's privacy was violated while she was a patient at The London Clinic in January - with at least one staff member allegedly trying to access her medical records.

It seems Meghan has attempted to reach out to Kate during this difficult time. Royal expert and author Tom Quinn told The Mirror: "It's definitely a good time for Meghan to try to build bridges with her sister-in-law and there has been some contact, but it's been formal rather than sisterly again, there is always the problem that Meghan can't be trusted." The relationship between the two has reportedly cooled following Meghan and Harry's explosive interview with Oprah Winfrey, where they shared their experiences as members of the Royal Family. The release of Omid Scobie's controversial book late last year, which contained allegations about senior members of the Royal family, further strained relations.
