Mara Wilson has said she received inappropriate messages from men when the actress was just 12 years old. Mara is best known for starring in a series of 90s classics including Mrs Doubtfire, Matilda and Miracle On 34th Street, and shot to fame at a young age as a result.

She was only nine years old when she starred alongside Danny DeVito in the well-loved adaptation of Roald Dahl’s book. Mara, now 35, has now alleged that “sketchy” things happened while on set as a young actress, including film bosses asking her to stay late instead of her parents.

She also shared her parents hopes that if she was to only star in children’s movies that she wouldn’t be sexualised at a young age, but went on to blame society for still doing so. “I had people sending me inappropriate letters and posting things about me online.

I made the mistake of Googling myself when I was 12 and saw things that I couldn’t unsee,” she told The Guardian. The things she “couldn’t unsee” included photos of her on porn sites that had been superimposed onto the bodies of other girls.
