Mark Simmons wins funniest joke at Edinburgh Festival Fringe 2024
dailyrecord.co.ukComedian Mark Simmons has been voted the winner of this year's Edinburgh Festival Fringe’s funniest joke.The joke that left the general public howling was: "I was going to sail around the globe in the world’s smallest ship but I bottled it.”The U&Dave’s Funniest Joke of the Fringe is chosen by the general public from a shortlist that is drawn up by judges.The witty one-liner about a sailing trip was ranked among the best by 40% of those surveyed.Simmons has been a regular of the Fringe after he performed his first solo show at the festival in 2014 after a friend convinced him to do an open mic night.He has previously been voted with the second best joke at the festival in 2022 as well as placing 6th and 9th in the contest.This year, the comedian will be performing More Jokes show at the Liquid Rooms Annexe until Saturday, August 24 before return to his 200-date debut UK tour.1.
