Manchester restaurant loved by Jay Rayner prepares for special milestone

When the owners of 10 Tib Lane woke up to the news that acclaimed food critic Jay Rayner had reviewed their restaurant and bar, they couldn't quite believe it. "It was so unexpected, he does so many types of places but we didn’t think we would be interesting enough to be on his list," recalls co-owner Sophie Robson. "But obviously he thought it was worth visiting and loved it.

The amount of people who came down to try us who had never heard of us before that was absolutely amazing and many still come back now." As well as describing the cooking at 10 Tib as "full of voluptuous pleasure" and "old-school sensibility", he said it should be held in the same high esteem as some of the city's very best restaurants including Climat, Higher Ground, Another Hand and Erst, thanks to its "eclectic small plates and a knowingly idiosyncratic drinks list". But success like this doesn't come easily, or overnight in fact, despite the speedy accession to the higher echelons of Manchester's food and drink scene.
