Manchester city council has released its updated bin collections for Christmas and New Year 2023 — and is also encouraging Mancs to recycle.
The adjusted times will come into effect for a two-week window from Christmas Day, which is a Monday. This year Christmas week will see residents’ bins emptied two days later than the usual collection date.
Therefore, collections usually on Monday (December 25) will happen on Wednesday (December 27) — and so on. That means bin collections will happen on both Saturday (December 30), and Sunday (December 31). Bin collections will return to normal from January 8, 2024. In order to recycle, the council is asking residents to flatten any cardboard boxes — which there will be more of after the visit of Father Christmas — and put in the blue bin.
