Man who produced machete during disturbance avoids prison

A man who claimed he produced a machete during a disturbance after being blamed for a murder has walked free from court. Thomas McInally said his partner had been "terrorised" by the dead man's family because her brother was the killer.

McInally, 39, appeared at Hamilton Sheriff Court and admitted threatening or abusive behaviour in Blairholm Drive, Bellshill, on June 30 last year.

Earlier this year Richard Wotherspoon, 33, was jailed for life for murdering Mr Hamilton. The court heard that McInally's partner is Wotherspoon's sister.
