A man who opened fire with an AK47 at a Showcase Cinema where he had been sacked has admitted he was "angry" but has told a court he "didn't have a grudge." Leslie Garrett 49, went to the picture house in Liverpool, where he had worked as a security guard before losing his job three months earlier, and fired shouts outside.
Earlier that evening he had raided a newsagents in his flip flops and shot into a protective screen before going for a drink in the pub.
Garrett has pleaded guilty to eight offences - including possession of a firearm with intent to endanger life, two counts of possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence, attempted robbery and possession of ammunition without a certificate. Garrett yesterday (Thursday) gave evidence at the hearing at Liverpool Crown Court. David Birrell, prosecuting, described how Amandeep Singh had been working at Sangha's off-licence on Lower House Lane in the north Liverpool suburb of Croxteth on the Wednesday night in question.
