Man dies six days after attempted murder in Kilmarnock

The victim of a Kilmarnock murder bid has died almost a week after he was attacked.The 39-year-old was seriously injured last Sunday, September 18 following an incident on the town's MacPhail Drive.Police announced the following day that the incident was being treated as attempted murder and that the victim was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital in Glasgow for treatment.Officers confirmed that a 38-year-old man was arrested and charged with attempted murder and appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, September 20.However, police announced today that the man injured in the New Farm incident passed away in hospital yesterday.A Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Officers attended at MacPhail Drive in Kilmarnock at around 8.10pm on Sunday, September 18, after a report of a 39-year-old man having sustained serious injuries.“The man was taken to Queen Elizabeth University Hospital for treatment.“A 38 year-old man was arrested and charged with attempted murder and appeared at Kilmarnock Sheriff Court on Tuesday, September 20.“The 39-year-old man subsequently died in hospital on Saturday, September 24.
