Pep Guardiola has paid many compliments to Fernandinho during their time together at Manchester City. The manager told reporters shortly after starting at the Etihad that he wished he could have one Fernandinho for every position, and the Brazilian has extended his stay into the 2020/21 season after unexpectedly emerging as a crucial centre-back.
Fernandinho was signed in Manuel Pellegrini's first transfer window at the club in 2013 as the club sought to move on from what had been a turbulent 12 months.
The midfielder, 35 in May, has also played under a number of coaches at international level since making his Brazil debut in 2011.
