This Morning's Dermot O'Leary has shared his heartfelt concern following the discovery of a body believed to be that of missing teenager Jay Slater in Tenerife.

While discussing the tragic news with LBC Radio's Tom Swarbrick on the ITV programme, alongside co-host Alison Hammond, Dermot relayed the sombre update: "The civil guard says that whilst formal identification needs to take place, all evidence suggests the remains are those of Jay Slater, who might have suffered an accident or fall." Tom shed light on the local reaction during their conversation, revealing insights from a regional newspaper editor: "[They have] the same questions that are on the front page of one of the British newspapers today, which is basically, 'Why wasn't this done sooner, given that unfortunately this body was located quite close to where the last phone signal seemed to have come from?'" He continued, detailing the challenging conditions that search teams faced: "The answer from this newspaper editor is the terrain is horrendous.

Unless you've been there you just don't know how hilly and craggy and rocky it is. It seems as if unfortunately from the road they were searching on, the body was found some 600ft below which would indicate as the police are suggesting an accident or fall of some kind." Tom shared his heartache, saying: "It's the worst possible news for the family, isn't it?

And I just think everyone's sympathies are with Jay's mum, because it's horrific", reports the Mirror. Alison was quick to express her agreement, adding: "It's every mum's nightmare." Dermot was equally inquisitive after This Morning's own Isla Traquair flew out to Tenerife to cover the ongoing search.
