A man accused of biting a police constable during the coronavirus lockdown has appeared in court. The female officer was also allegedly punched, along with a colleague, as they responded to a street disturbance in Drake Street in Rochdale town centre on Thursday.
Christopher Hill, 29, of Waterfoot, Lancs, was arrested after he was said to have attempted to visit his partner’s address. Hill was brought in custody to Manchester magistrates’ court on Saturday after he was charged with two counts of assault by beating of an emergency worker and one count of criminal damage.
