A drunken thug accused a dog walker of stealing his XL bully before chasing him with a hammer and snatching his Pomeranian. Kenneth Littlemore encountered his victim in the street then pursued him to the top of a block of flats, where he yanked the innocent man's pet - a toy breed named Bonsai - from his arms.

The thief was so intoxicated that, at one stage, he even mistook a cat for his missing dog. Liverpool Crown Court heard today (March 3) that the victim had been walking Bonsai in the area around St Oswalds Lane in Netherton at around 8pm on February 4 this year when he encountered two teenagers.

The girls, whom he estimated were aged around 15 to 16, told him that they were "being chased by a male", the Liverpool Echo reports.

David Watson, prosecuting, described how Littlemore then ran towards him while holding a small glass hammer. The 47-year-old, of Scargreen Avenue in Norris Green, "asked him if he knew the whereabouts of his dog", claiming that his XL bully had been stolen.
