A motorcyclist led police on 50-minute chase, driving into oncoming traffic on the M6. Lucifer O'Malia reached speeds of up to 110mph and travelled around 20 miles before he was eventually arrested in a park.

Liverpool Crown Court heard cops in an unmarked patrol spotted the 21-year-old speeding on Foul Lane in Southport shortly before 8.30pm on May 27.

When an officer attempted to pull him over, he 'appeared to slow down slightly', but then 'accelerated to over 50mph'. Prosecutor Callum Ross described how a pursuit involving a police helicopter then commenced, 'lasting for some 50 minutes in total'.

O'Malia sped at more than 70mph in a 30mph zone, as well as at around 110mph on the 50mph Southport New Road.
