A 20-year-old man has been given just weeks to live after he went to A&E suffering lower back pain. Dylan Lamb, 20, noticed he was suffering from the pain in April 2022 but first shook it off thinking he had just pulled a muscle.

He returned from university to his family home in Staffordshire and managed to get painkillers from his GP. But Dylan and his mum, Kim, went to A&E on April 28, 2022, after the pain became "unbearable".

A blood test confirmed the student's white blood cell count was "through the roof" and he was admitted to hospital for further tests. She told the Echo: "He had this lower back pain that could have been multiple different things, he thought he had pulled a muscle.
