Luke Littler, who won £200,000 in prize money at the World Darts Championship final, is set to lose nearly half of his winnings. The 16 year old - who was recently challenged on his age - impressed with his performance at Alexandra Palace but lost to Luke Humphries in the final.
And, despite securing a hefty £200,000 payout as the runner-up, Luke will reportedly lose almost half of this due to taxes and national insurance, reducing his total by at least 45 percent.
Investment platform Saxo has calculated he will need to pay £76,203 in tax and £7,330 in national insurance, leaving him with just £116,467 of his prize money after tax. This works out at roughly £2,236 per week over the next year.
