Loved ones gather to celebrate Lanarkshire woman's 100th birthday

A much-loved Lanarkshire woman celebrated her 100th birthday recently surrounded by family and friends. Alice Knape from Rutherglen reached the milestone on Saturday, January 21, as loved ones gathered at the Burnside Hotel to mark the occasion.The centenarian spent her birthday with a gathering of close relatives where she was presented with a special cake and a birthday card from the King and Queen's Consort.The Lanarkshire Live app is available to download now.

They married in 1943 and had four children, Roy, Anne, Alice and Irene.When first married they lived in Fairie Street, before moving to the prefabs in Spittal then Carrick Road, Spittal.
