Lee Johnson reckons 'small margins' cost him his job at Hibs as the departing boss bids an emotional farewell to Easter Road.Johnson was sacked after a dreadful start to the season saw them pointless in the Premiership after three games and virtually out of Europe after a 5-0 thumping against Aston Villa at Easter Road.
A 3-2 defeat to Livingston on home turf did the damage and Johnson departed leaving David Gray in charge in the interim. But Johnson only had good things to say in a statement released by the LMA.
He said: “I would like to thank the Gordon family for giving me the opportunity to manage this historic club, with a special mention to the late Ron Gordon, who was a great loss to us all.“I would also like to thank the staff, who I worked closely with throughout my time at Hibs, who are passionate about the club and are always supportive of the players and backroom staff.
I have met some friends for life! CEO Ben Kensell is a great leader and we enjoyed an excellent working relationship." Johnson reckons the congestion of fixtures was a major factor in his demise as they had to overcome Inter d'Escaldes and Luzern just to set up the tie with Villa while balancing European games with their domestic schedule.
