Lanarkshire school evacuated over smell of gas fears

A Lanarkshire school was forced to evacuate yesterday over fears of a possible gas leak. Pupils and teachers were to told to exit the building at Stonehouse Primary School during the morning.

A spokesperson for South Lanarkshire Council told Lanarkshire Live : “There was a report of a smell of gas in and around the school and, as a precaution, the school was evacuated to St Ninians church. “It was confirmed by noon that this was a false alarm and the staff and pupils returned to the school building.” It comes as schools across Lanarkshire prepare for strike action this Thursday, November 24.
