King Charles is set to be represented by the Prince of Wales at a D-Day event for the first time since he began his treatment for cancer.
Appearing on ITV's Lorraine, The Mirror's Royal Editor Russell Myers confirmed that The King is attending the British memorial in Normandy on Thursday morning, 6 June, as part of the D-Day commemorations, but will not be attending the international event with world leaders on Omaha Beach later in the afternoon.
Prince William will instead be stepping in for the King at this event, with Russell adding: "I would imagine his doctors have told him to slow down from quite a packed schedule." OK!
has asked representatives for King Charles for comment. The news comes a day after the King joined the Queen and Prince William in Portsmouth to mark the first day of commemorations for the 80th anniversary of D-Day.
