Ayr United left Rugby Park with the bragging rights in today's SPFL Reserve Cup clash.Kilmarnock had taken the lead thanks to a powerful Bobby Wales strike, but Mark McKenzie bagged a double to seal a comeback win for the Honest Men.Wales gave Killie an early lead as he picked up a loose ball and worked to the edge of the area to smash into the top corner.McKenzie equalised for the Honest Men in the 18th minute as his powerful effort rattled the post and found it’s way into the opposite side of Aidan Glavin’s net.Trialist Gary Mackay-Steven was hauled down as he headed towards the box in the 53rd minute by Lyall Holding who was booked.Mackay-Steven then had a great chance to restore Killie’s lead in the 58th minute with a curling effort from the edge of the box, but the post denied him.Wales was through on goal just after the hour mark but United stopper Robbie Mutch did well to deny Wales as the striker attempted to go round him.Killie were screaming for a penalty in the 73rd minute when Steven Warnock appeared to be fouled by Mutch, but it was waved away.The visitors then fired themselves ahead in the 80th minute as McKenzie doubled his money after cutting inside and firing low into his near post.Skipper Paul Smith almost doubled Ayr's lead with a fine curling shot, but Glavin tipped it past the post superbly at full stretch.
