A killer BMW driver ignored red lights on the way to the birth of his child - smashing into another car and taking a beloved mother's life.

Paul Wright, 31, crashed into 57-year-old Jane Hickson's vehicle. He had gone through red light on Liverpool Road in Chester, near the Countess of Chester Hospital.

Wright has now been jailed for nine years after previously pleading guilty to causing death by dangerous driving. The dad-of-two was behind the wheel of his BMW X5, driving at 60mph on November 5 last year.

Chester Crown Court heard he slowed to 30mph as he skipped his third red light in a row.
