Kelly Clarkson is opening up about her idea for Taylor Swift to re-record her music and how Scooter Braun reacted to her publicly sharing that idea.
Right after Taylor‘s master recordings were sold to Scooter as part of his purchase of her former record label Big Machine Records, Kelly publicly suggested that she re-record the old music so that fans could buy the new recordings.
She tweeted on July 13, 2019, “@taylorswift13 just a thought, U should go in & re-record all the songs that U don’t own the masters on exactly how U did them but put brand new art & some kind of incentive so fans will no longer buy the old versions.” Kelly has revealed that Scooter reached out to her manager after she tweeted. Your fans will support you.’ Literally, she’s a genius,” Kelly said during a SiriusXM Town Hall special. “Not only did she re-record it, she planned this Eras Tour — like, this woman is brilliant.” Taylor went on to take Kelly‘s advice, though Kelly said she was never “thanked” for her suggestion. “I think she is brilliant,” she said. “She would’ve come up with that on her own and she maybe already had before I even tweeted it.” So what did Scooter think? “Scooter took offense to it … we ran into each other, and he reached out at the time to my manager.
