Jurors have been told to stay away from court as new trials are halted until they can be held safely amid the coronavirus crisis.
The country's most senior judge, the Lord Chief Justice, said that the decision to temporarily stop new trials was being made in line with the government's 'social distancing' guidelines.
Some trials may continue, but only when 'specific arrangements to ensure safety have been put in place'. These measures include ensuring 'basic hygiene arrangements' are available, as well observing social distancing by keeping two meters away from other people.
