Josh Gad is set to star in a sequel for the classic parody film Spaceballs! Mel Brooks wrote and directed the original film back in 1987 and it primarily spoofed Star Wars, though other sci-fi films were also parodied in the movie.
The Hollywood Reporter is saying that Josh and Mel will produce the sequel together with Gad attached to lead the cast. Keep reading to find out more… Josh Greenbaum will direct the sequel and the script was written by Gad, Benji Samit, and Dan Hernandez. Gad teased the project in an Instagram post on June 7.
He blacked out the title of the project, but left his co-writers’ credits on the image. “Just handed in a film script that I think may be the funniest and best thing I’ve ever worked on and I am so freaking excited.
Working with my boys @cubanmissiledh and @benjisamit has been heaven on Earth and many other planets as well. Love you boys!” he said.
