Joaquin Phoenix Sparks Marriage Rumors After Calling Longtime Partner Rooney Mara His 'Wife'

During the interview, Joaquin referred to Rooney, 39, as his “wife.” Keep reading to find out more…Joaquin said that he found inspiration for the speech while he “was talking with my mom and wife.” Moments later, Joaquin referred to the Carol actress by her first name while retelling how he came up with his speech, saying, “Rooney was like, ‘That’s what you should say!’” Joaquin did not further clarify if he and Rooney are married.
The couple first met in 2012 on set of Her and have been publicly dating since 2017. They got engaged in 2019 and in 2020, they welcomed their first son River, whom they named after Joaquin‘s late brother.
Earlier this year, it was confirmed that Joaquin and Rooney are expecting a second child. Rooney also recently supported Joaquin at the L.A.
