Sevilla have reportedly turned down an initial approach from Rangers for Joan Jordan - and the misfit could be set to dig in his heels over a potential exit.

The two-time Europa League winner would has been deemed surplus to requirements by the La Liga side going into the new season after five years at the club - with Philippe Clement and Ibrox director of football recruitment said to be among the admirers of the 30-year-old as Sevilla attempt to move him on.

Reports suggest that an offer to cover 30 per cent of Jordan's wages to seal a loan have been rebuffed - with the club still open to allowing the player to leave.

Sevilla sports director Victor Orta has not been shy in delivering his verdict on the outcast early in the summer - totally writing off his chances of making an impact going forward at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan Stadium.
