Jim Goodwin launches Aberdeen fans 'respect' mission as he thanks board for not binning him

It looked like they were going to get their wish after the Pittodrie board convened on Wednesday to discuss the manager’s future, with the assumption being that his time was up.But chairman Dave Cormack shocked everyone by announcing that Goodwin would be carrying on in the dugout, although left little to the imagination as to what the outcome would be should they lose against fellow strugglers Hibs on Saturday.
Easter Road boss Lee Johnson is also feeling the heat after a 3-0 home defeat to Hearts saw them crash out of the cup, and the Premiership clash has already been dubbed 'El Sackico'.Many feel the damage is already done and Goodwin is a dead man walking regardless of the result in Leith.
But he’s determined to try and get the punters back on side."The board of directors have been extremely supportive from day one in terms of supporting me, giving me the backing in the summer and allowing me to make the necessary changes that I felt needed to be made behind the scenes and on the pitch in terms of recruitment,” he said."And they have shown great faith and belief in me again after the Darvel game.
