Aberdeen have finally wielded the axe on Jim Goodwin after Dave Cormack’s patience snapped over a 6-0 annihilation at Hibs.The Dons suffered yet more humiliation which proved the final straw for chairman Cormack, who had felt compelled to issue the manager a warning on Wednesday night.

But Cormack stunned Scottish football when he U-turned, giving the embattled boss a reprieve on Wednesday evening. Most had expected the Irishman to be binned in midweek, especially as it came off the back of humiliation in the form of a 5-0 doing at Hearts.
