Jim Goodwin has challenged his Aberdeen side to rip up the record books against Celtic and maintain the Pittodrie feelgood factor. The punters have been flocking to the Granite City ground after a superb home run with six wins out of seven in the Premiership to sit in third spot heading in to Saturday's restart following the World Cup break.
But Celtic coming to town will be Goodwin’s toughest test of the season – and the manager admitted it’s time to turn the page on a wretched recent return against the Hoops.Aberdeen haven’t beaten Celts in the North East since February 2016 and the gaffer said: “The record against Celtic in the last 10 or 12 years doesn’t make for good reading at all.
It’s only a couple of wins in the last 40-odd league fixtures. It’s not good enough for a club of this size, but at the same time it’s not a huge reflection on this current crop of players.“We can only do what we can do.
We have to believe we are capable of winning every game we go into and that will be the mindset, the attitude. Let’s try to start this part of the season the way we finished the last part and try and continue that feel good factor that’s within the group at Pittodrie but also out in the wider community as well.
